Located off of Savannah Rd., this 1,242 acre Indian Hills Recreation Area stormwater project was designed to improve the runoff that discharges into the Indian River Lagoon; however, nature lovers can enjoy a mile long trail, fish on the floating docks, snap pictures of the wildlife, or take a lunch break under the pavilions.
Located on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, St. Lucie County’s Sweetwater Hammock Preserve protects a remnant hammock within the North Fork Greenway. A quarter-mile self-guided interpretive trail winds through a young, seven-acre hammock with a lush habitat of live oaks, laurel oaks, and cabbage palms. There are accommodating picnic tables, canoe access, fishing, and common wildlife.
